Chris was delighted to hear that the CD he recorded with Conspirare last October, Threshold of Night, will be released September 9 and distributed internationally on the Harmonia Mundi label. Click HERE for a free preview.
The CD features music of Tarik O'Regan, a very much up-and-coming British composer now working in the US. Most of the poets whose words he set in these pieces are American, including the biggies Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe. You'll hear that some parts of "The Ecstasies Above" and "Triptych" absolutely rock -- a sign of the composer's childhood in north Africa and his love of rock, jazz, and R&B. Chris solos on "The Ecstasies Above." Take a listen!
Here are the texts for each piece on the recording (right-click on the title or whatever you need to do to open it in a new window):
1. Had I Not Seen the Sun
2-4. The Ecstasies Above (notes on the piece)
5. Threshold of Night (text starts under #3)
6. Talvez tenemos tiempo
7. Care Charminge Sleepe
8.-10. Triptych (sorry, can't find the texts)
11. I Had No Time to Hate
