Views of August

Now that August is (remarkably) coming to a close, we wanted to share a few scenes from the past month. Our summer is ending on a satisfying note. Over the past few weeks, friends Mark and Jandri visited from Austin (sorry there are no pix of them to share here). We've gotten in a few more hikes, escaping the heat up in Mill Creek and Big Cottonwood Canyons. Now we're getting ready for the big celebration at the end of September: Miss Jo's 80th birthday, Carmen's baptism, and a LeCluyse sibling reunion.

Lake Blanche

A couple weeks ago Chris and friend Glendon hiked up to Lake Blanche in Big Cottonwood canyon. It's a serious trek--about 2500 foot elevation gain over 3 miles, so nearly every step takes you uphill--but the newly discovered trekking poles made a great difference. The views at the top are well worth the journey. The double mountain you see in the background is Sundial Peak, with Lake Blanche laid out before it.

Too right, mate.
