The Great Remodeling

Life for the C's has been about the remodeling for the past couple of months. Our friend Bill, who in addition to being a contractor has the great fortune of being married to our friend Heather, an interior designer, began the work October 1. Meanwhile, we're staying at Joe and Carmen's condo in Cottonwood Heights. Hopefully everything will be done by December 9!

Here are the changes underway:
  • Tearing down the wall between our old living room and Carmen's (former) room to create one big living room, sealing up doorways to create a half-wall on the side
  • Tearing down the wall between the bathroom and what was Carmen's closet to expand the bathroom two glorious feet
  • Moving Carmen's room to the (former) study
  • Moving the study to the spare room downstairs
  • Carpeting, painting, tiling, and having a gas stove installed in the living room
As of this past Wednesday, here's how things stood. Below are several views of the new living room. The trash can in the second shot gives a sense of where the gas stove will be. Here's what the stove itself will look like installed--we're getting the brown enamel version: http://www.avalonfirestyles.com/product_guide/detail.aspx?id=317

The expanded bathroom, waiting for tile and fixtures. A few of the new tiles are lying on the floor.

While Bill and his crew are working on the big stuff, we're painting Carmen's room. Two walls will be pink and two a more neutral cream color, with bright white trim. Growing from the corner of the pink walls will be the tree decal at the bottom. Any other colors you see are either old trim or painter's tape! :)
